Ray wraps.

It's a Burrayto! It's Halloween, and Raymond Lam is not one to neglect the holidays. I asked him what he would be for this special day, and he replied in Spanish, which I have not studied for seven years. Apparently, Burraytos are a delicacy in Mexico, and some have paid more than a month's wages just to get a glimpse of this rare treat. If prepared correctly, one foot should be sticking out the bottom of the burrito, and a bespectacled head should be popping out the top. The Burrayto is a hit at sleepovers, bachelor parties, even funerals! Don't miss your chance to see the Burrayto, or another favorite, the Lamchop. Today is Monday, October 31, and no one looks more delicious wrapped up in bed. No homo!

30 October 2011

Ray flexes.

Ray comes home from Los Angeles, reeking of smoky cow, and looking like one, too. What's with the smile, Raymond Lam? Without so much as a greeting, he stretches his arm out in front of me. "Look at the scar on my large bicep," he boasts. "Indeed," I answer, "you are quite the Action Man, to receive such a formidable lesion." He sighs contentedly, and begins to regale me with the epic tale. "I was playing basketball this morning in the courts near a elementary school playground. After a couple of games, I noticed there were a couple of guys that looked like they might want to join in, so I invited them to come play. They said no, they just wanted to watch for a while. I shrugged and continued playing. During the next game, right after my friend Jeff shot a nice fade-away, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the guys from before were looking through my backpack. Anyway, to make a long story short, there was a a small scuffle, and I ended up with this long scratch on my bicep. It didn't hurt at all, but my mom got scared and said, 'you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.'" Today is Sunday, October 30, 2011, and Ray had Korean barbecue in Korea Town, Los Angeles. Go Raymond!

29 October 2011

Ray scores.

It's football season, and Raymond Lam knows how to take it to the house. Nothing excites Ray more than being around a bunch of hot, sweaty men. Whether it's basketball or football, he jukes, twists, and turns his way to put some points on the board. Today is Saturday, October 29, 2011, and Ray returned an interception for a touchdown and 10 fantasy points. Go Raymond!

28 October 2011

Ray drinks.

Raymond Lam is a man of action, and action creates quite a thirst. Not just for the ladies, either. Even though Raymond does love female companionship, he would much rather spend his time and money on a love that's sweeter to him. Her name is Coco. Coconut Milk Tea. Today is Friday, October 28, 2011, and Raymond has bought boba six times in seven days. Go Raymond!

27 October 2011

Ray...?

There's no way to spin this. Today is Thursday, October 27, 2011, and I didn't really see Ray do anything today. Go Raymond...?

26 October 2011

Ray fries a fish.

"Take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going." The undying words of Carl Weathers has never once left the brilliant mind of Raymond Lam. With company over, Raymond prepared a gourmet meal, concluded by a decadent root beer float. Today is Wednesday, October 26, 2011, and Ray is doing a lot of dishes tonight.

25 October 2011

Ray makes an entrance. (Haiku)

The door swings open.
Anticipate his presence.
Hero. Go Raymond!

24 October 2011

Ray derps.

I get to the Science Library an hour after Raymond Lam starts studying and I find him on page 6. That's a page in just 10 minutes! I ask him, "Action Man, how do you get so much reading done even surrounded by distractions like a netbook, an iPod, and dozens of cute Asian girls biting their lips in concentration?" He winks and chuckles in a deep, masculine manner. With suave nonchalance, he responds. "Derp." Today is Monday, October 24, 2011, and Ray hit the books for three whole hours today. Go Raymond!

23 October 2011

Ray learns.

From the "How to Kiss" article on wikiHow:

  1. Get your lips in proper kissing order.
  2. Look inviting and approachable.
  3. Break the touch barrier.
  4. Look at their lips.
  5. Approach for the kiss.
  6. Pump your fists up and down in triumph and shake your booty while shouting, "Mufasa!"
Today is Sunday, October 23, 2011, and I hope Ray tries all six steps on his first try. Go Raymond!

22 October 2011

Ray dresses for love.

Pedobull doesn't work calves as hard as this guy. Today is Saturday, October 22, 2011, and Raymond stretches his shapely legs in anticipation of tomorrow's games. Go Raymond!

21 October 2011

Ray crafts the stars.

Zerg Rush! Four Gate! I don't really know what StarCraft is about! I imagine it's a romantic comedy game about a man in space looking for love in all the wrong places. He meets a girl named Zerg, and he falls head over heels in love with her on first sight. This is called the Zerg Rush. She is part of an alien race, and like every good romance, her family is against the pairing. They lock her up in a dungeon four walls deep, and the point of the game is to free her by unlocking the Four Gates. And then they try to kiss but find out it doesn't really match up biologically. Today is Friday, October 21, 2011, and Ray is a hopeless romantic when it comes to alien chicks. Go Raymond!

20 October 2011

Ray turns into a burrito.

Winter is coming. The words of House Stark echo hauntingly off the walls of our chilly apartment as night descends on Orange County. In A Song of Ice and Fire, the epic fantasy series by George R.R. Martin, the knights and lords of Westeros wrap themselves in the pelts of wolves and bears to combat the cold and the undead "white walkers." Likewise, Raymond Lam, preparing for a battle against zombies, girds himself in what appears to be the pelt of a wolf who made some very bad decisions in life. Today is Thursday, October 20, 2011, and Ray looked ridiculous. Go Raymond!

19 October 2011

Ray puts clothes on.

Raymond Lam normally wakes up for just one thing: basketball. But this morning, something else motivated him to crawl out of his burrito roll in bed at 8:30 in the morning. Ray started working out. Gentlemen, please watch out. There's about to be a new stud entering the game. Today is Wednesday, October 19, 2011, and Ray went for a 1.5 mile run today, followed by some extreme stretching, followed by some time playing hard-core Fantasy Football. Go Raymond!

18 October 2011

Ray takes the wheel.

Raymond Lam is a man of action and versatility. The variety of skills he displays in the car is staggering. His skills as shotgun have already been expounded upon, but there are two other positions he can fill admirably. The backseat rider has the responsibility to fill in gaps during awkward pauses in conversations or pretend to nap. Sometimes Ray's silent snores are so convincing even I have a hard time believing he's still awake. Finally, Ray can fill in as backup driver like Steve Young did for Joe Montana in the glory years. Today is Tuesday, October 18, 2011, and Ray takes over for a churro-consuming Scott on the way back from Costco. Go Raymond!

17 October 2011

Ray hogs the couch.

"Get down, son!" So Jason did. Today is Monday, October 17, 2011, and Ray dominated. Go Raymond!

16 October 2011

Ray stays alive.

Can you find what's wrong with the picture? If you said Ray's apparent growth spurt, you're correct, but that's not what I'm trying to get at. I come back from San Diego, and the lamppost outside of my apartment is doing its best Jack Sparrow impersonation. Apparently there was a drunk driver that drove onto the sidewalk in front of our apartment, bumping into our benches and lamps. And ruining our landscaping! But Raymond Lam, always mindful of his environment, decided to play it safe and stay inside, even though all of his heroic instincts were screaming at him to lift the car up to stop the drunk driver. From all of us, Ray, thank you for staying alive. Because if you died there'd be no more A Ray a Day. Today is Sunday, October 16, 2011, and Ray is doing SCIENCE and he's still alive. Go Raymond!

15 October 2011

Ray has friends.

Raymond Lam is a man of action and affability. Here he is, surrounded by friends, playing Mousehunt on a netbook. Yet men are still drawn to the enigma that is Raymond Lam. Upon finding a comrade who shares his interests, our man of action can make fast friends with his calming voice and warm demeanor. Today is Saturday, October 15, and Ray pretty much agreed to go to San Diego just to play basketball. Go Raymond!

14 October 2011

Ray takes a burrito in the bottom.

Of California. That's right, folks, Raymond Lam is spending the weekend down in sunny San Diego, the land of beautiful sunsets and girls not quite as cute as those in Irvine. But all is forgiven, San Diego, because your burritos are first class. Today is Friday, October 14, 2011, and Ray ordered a "Surfin' California" burrito at the famous San Diego burrito joint Lucha Libre. Go Raymond!

13 October 2011

Ray scratches his mosquito bites.

Guess what happens to action loungers? While they are busy lounging, some pesky, disease-carrying vector comes and sucks their blood. Interestingly, the female mosquito has to seek a "blood meal" before she can produce eggs. She finds her prey using 72 different odor receptors on her antennae, looking for a good combination of carbon dioxide, 1-octene-3-ol, and other compounds that compose body odor. Today is Thursday, October 13, 2011, and Ray could have just indirectly infected a kid in Africa with malaria. Go Raymond!

12 October 2011

Ray takes a break.

With the desert sun beating down on Irvine today, the intelligent inhabitants of Orange County ran for shelter. One such creature was Raymond Lam, who actually never really left the shelter. For the whole day. Except when I asked him to help me take out the recycling after sunset. Some action-oriented predators lunge toward their prey. Ray goes the extra mile and adds an extra "o" after the "l." Today is Wednesday, October 12, 2011, and Ray, the man of action, lounged around all day. Go Raymond!

11 October 2011

Ray ain't no scrub.

"A scrub is a guy who won't get no love from me. Hanging out the passenger side of his best friend's ride, trying to holler at me." The classic words of TLC. But they obviously weren't singing about Raymond Lam, the ultimate shotgun rider. He doesn't holler. This man of action DJs, keeps up a lively conversation, yet knows when to shut up and listen to a good song. Today is Tuesday, October 11, 2011, and Ray just cruised the afternoon away. Go Raymond!

10 October 2011

Ray goes shopping.

Is there anything more attractive than a man who cooks? Ladies, take note. Raymond Lam is a man of action and romance. He is willing to shop and cook for that special woman, and ask for nothing but your love in return. And perhaps maybe some quality Halo time with him. Nothing says love like a headshot. Today is Monday, October 10, 2011, and Raymond Lam heated up some leftovers for dinner tonight. Go Raymond!

09 October 2011

Ray thinks I'm only taking a picture of his hand.

But instead I managed to fit a number of things that Ray enjoys. First is an exciting, action-packed game named Mousehunt, which consists of clicking your mouse every 15 minutes to sound a horn and check to see what type of mouse you caught in your trap. Second are Rubik's Cubes, a colorful way to get early-onset carpal tunnel. Third is Baja Blast, a refreshing caffeinated drink that will most likely keep Raymond Lam the Action Man awake all night. Again. Today is Sunday, October 9, 2011, and Ray might hit me while I'm sleeping for posting this picture. Go Raymond!

08 October 2011

Ray doesn't hoverhand.

The weekend brings with its sunshine and warmth the opportunity to catch up with friends from out of town. Though Raymond "Action" Lam has not had the best week in his life, the chime of the doorbell brought a genuine smile to his face. Today is Saturday, October 8, 2011, and Ray ate out for all of his meals. Go Raymond!

07 October 2011

Ray waits.

Look carefully. In this picture there are several common, everyday objects. You might see some posters, a computer- if you're really careful, you might even see a flock of ducks that seem to be congregating on a bed. Nope! Just Ray Lam. Today is Friday, October 7, 2011, and Ray is storing up energy to be a man of action. Go Raymond!

06 October 2011

Ray goes outside.

Believe it. The rainy days are over, the air is crisp and clean, and Raymond Lam steps through that boundary between his world and the mysterious unknown. "This is it," he told me. "This is what?" I asked. He continued, "If I take one more step, it'll be the farthest away from home I've ever been." And we proceeded up about a mile to the Bluffs to eat lunch. Today is Thursday, October 6, 2011, and Ray got caught smiling today. Go Raymond!

05 October 2011

Ray gets serious.

It's a lazy afternoon in Orange County, and outside it's raining cats and dogs. But inside, it's pouring Foxes and Falcons. Captain Falcons, to be exact. There is no purer joy than that witnessed on the grinning face of Raymond Lam as he sees the lightning flash when he connects his famous "Falcon knee." Today is Wednesday, October 5, 2011, and Scott beat Ray in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Also Steve Jobs died. Go Raymond!

04 October 2011

Ray is entertained.

"Are you not entertained?!" Maximus cries, blood and sweat mingling as they drip down his battle-hardened chest. In the movie Gladiator (2000), there is a resounding silence to this call. Not so with Raymond Lam, age 22. Today is Tuesday, October 4, 2011, and Raymond giggles quietly to himself as he watches an episode of Reckless Tortuga, an online show that describes itself as "a sketch comedy adventure." Go Raymond!

03 October 2011

Ray cooks a delicious lunch.

Raymond Lam is a man of action and appetites. All the action requires an energy source, and Raymond has the solution. When he sets his heart and stomach on food, there are few things that can slow him down. Today is Monday, October 3, 2011, and Raymond's prey is yellow Vietnamese rice and a frothy glass of cow udder juice. Go Raymond!

02 October 2011

Ray checks his Fantasy Football team.

Raymond Lam is a man of action and passions. He is passionate about Fantasy Sports. His raucous shouts of jubilee or disgust often echo off the walls of his apartment when he checks to see how his beloved players have performed. Today is Sunday, October 2, 2011, and Raymond's team has done exceptionally well today. Go Raymond!
